Pilates is an exercise invented by Joseph Pilates of German origin during World War I. This exercise was developed in order to help sick people and therefore it was focused on low impact exercising with high results.
Pilates does not require any weights in order to be performed, the equipment consists of loose fit exercise clothes which allows you to move freely as a lot of stretching is involved in Pilates. So, it requires that your clothes are not tight fitting in order for them to not cause any discomfort. Bare feet are best when practicing Pilates but you may wear trainers should you not be comfortable with bare feet. A Pilates mat will conclude the equipment necessary to start practicing today.
